Street Fighter IV features models and backgrounds rendered in 3D, the gameplay remains on a traditional 2D plane, with the camera having freedom to move in 3D at certain times during fights, for dramatic effect. Producer Yoshinori Ono has stated that he wanted to keep the game closer to Street Fighter II. A new system called "Focus Attacks" ("Saving Attack" for the Japanese version) has been introduced, as well as Ultra moves. The game features new backgrounds with 2D and 3D elements, as well as a returning cast of all 28 characters from Samurai Shodown V Special, as well as all 7 characters from Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown II that didn't appear in later games, and 4 new characters. It also features a "spirit select" system, which allows players to choose between six different fighting styles based on all previous installments.

Tekken 6 stated the game will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. In addition, the game adds a new "rage" system, which gives characters more power when their vitality is low. When activated, a red energy field surrounds the character and their health bar starts to flicker red.

Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion is an upcoming updated version of Tekken 6. It was officially announced on August 28th, 2008. It is set to be released in arcades during Winter 2008. The official trailer was shown at the AM Show on September 18th, 2008 in Tokyo, Japan. It is similar to the Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection upgrade for Tekken 5. The tagline, as shown in the most recent trailers, is "What do you fight for". As of Wednesday, October 8, 2008, Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion has been confirmed as a title for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.It also has been confirmed that Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion will arrive in a handheld platform which is PlayStation Portable.

This game was ported to Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and included some new play modes: Vs. Arcana Heart 3 is a 2D arcade fighting game developed by Examu Inc. (formerly Yuki Enterprise). It is the third entry in the Arcana Heart series, following the events after Arcana Heart 2. The game went through location tests in Japan towards the end of 2009 and was officially released in December 2009.
